Minnesota Works - Exploring Tech & Trades 2024

The Minnesota State Centers of Excellence invite you and your students to attend Minnesota Works: Exploring Tech and Trades event taking place November 1, 8, or 15, 2024 

What is Minnesota Works?

This event invites our communities from across the state to explore the high-skill and high-paying jobs critical to Minnesota’s economic future. This event will feature a morning with a snapshot of seven career sectors for students to explore hands-on. You’ll have the opportunity in the afternoon to immerse yourself in a one-hour session with leaders and students in Agriculture, Energy, Engineering, Healthcare, IT, Manufacturing, and Transportation. Allowing students and yourselves to become more informed and excited about career and technical education. There will be opportunities to tour our campuses, labs, and classroom spaces. 

When is Minnesota Works? When can I register? 

  • Friday November 1, 2024, from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. at Minnesota State Community &Technical College in Moorhead 

  • Friday November 8, 2024, from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. at Riverland Community College in Albert Lea 

  • Friday November 15, 2024, from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. at Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College in Cloquet 

  • Pick the location closest to you! Registration for these events will open soon. Keep an eye out for an email with event registration!  

Who should come to Minnesota Works? 

  • Students who are Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors will have the best experience in attending this event to engage in hands on careers exploration opportunities.  

  • Ag, CTE, and STEM Teachers; Guidance Counselors; Perkins Coordinators; Parents; and any member of the of the community interested in learning about careers in technology or the trades.  

Why should you attend or bring your students to Minnesota Works? 

This can be a first touch point or a deep dive for a student into a career students might not have been exposed to or considered themselves able to do. We hope that during this day of exploration that teachers and community members can also learn about the resources and opportunities from the Centers of Excellence, Minnesota State, and our partner campuses have to offer.
